How to create safer online social and party spaces

Online events have played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a simple and easy way for us to connect in the absence of live music. Unfortunately it's also meant a rise in organised troll attacks and online abuse e.g. 'Zoombombing'. If you want your customers feel safe at your online events, then you'll need take steps to ensure they are as safe and secure as possible.

Good Night Out and Queer House Party have collaborated to produce A Guide to Safer Online Parties — a PDF guide developed to help online party organisers ensure their spaces are both safe and secure.

The guide includes tips on:

  • Improving the online security of your events
  • Communicating effectively with attendees
  • Removing trolls
  • Dealing with any instances of online harassment
